With so much in the news about coronavirus, COVID-19, and the recent lockdown imposed on the Great British public, I wanted to share my thoughts:
Statistically the over 70’s, are the most at risk but this doesn’t mean others can't get it too? Anybody can become infected with this relentless virus. The coronavirus is not sexist, ageist, racist or any other kind of ‘ist for that matter, nor is it exclusive to certain sports, walks of life, or the rich or poor.
In a selfish, yet not irresponsible way, each country is looking after its own citizens, but are we not all citizens of the world? Surely it would be far more effective if we all, as individuals as families, as country members, as global citizens shut down entirely, put the world on hold, except with tough measures for the essential services as each country has adopted to keep the wheels turning? Stock markets would freeze, no one country would come out of this smelling of roses. Individually we would all be acting responsibly as global citizens of the world.
This virus seems, in some ways, quite basic. If washing your hands, maintaining self hygiene, normal washing of your clothes, being sensible and polite around others and just keeping your 2 metre distance aids to combat this, then surely this is something we can all do to help ourselves and everyone else too?
It is likely no one sport, government or country can stop the rapid spread of this, but us as individuals can with a period of global lockdown. This is the time politics should be forgotten, profiteering or one-up-man ship is not welcome and shouldn’t be tolerated. Come on, let’s pull together and get this cracked!
Thank you to the selfless citizens who are making a difference and keeping the world turning: the police, the doctors, nurses, ambulance staff, the hotel porters, the bin men, the supermarket assistants - there are far too many to name, you know who you are, I thank you.
Be safe, self isolate, if not for you, then for your parents, your grandparents, your children, your neighbours and fellow mankind.

I will continue to keep you entertained with my golf lifestyle of last year, and hope we can meet again in better times on the fairways of the world
