One hundred and thirty ladies attended the Red Tee Tour 2015 for a game of golf, lunch and a lot of fun.
With 15 qualifiers playing at The Oxfordshire on 18th October, it was more like a friends reunion that a tough competition. Three ladies qualified for the singles matches and 12 ladies for the betterball pairs matches. Sporting Nike orange for playing golf we were an easy bunch to spot on the lush green fairways.
Each lady qualified through good play and they had it all to play for at the finals.
Our sponsors have been amazing - Nike provided the clothing for the golf game and Glenbrae for the dinner in the evening - and the ladies loved them all. Orange was not a colour many of the ladies admitted to owning and probably wouldn't purchase either - until yesterday that is. They thought the Nike outfits looked lovely and were nice and warm under the cooling Autumn sky. Not to mention being easy to spot coming along the fairways!
Glenbrae provided the 15 qualifying ladies with two shades of purple jumpers and stripe t-shirts - and what a smart dressed group they looked, commenting how comfortable the clothing was and whilst looking smart could be used on the course or as we did for the dinner.
Our main destination sponsors, The Andalusian Tourist Board pulled out all the stops to get the winners an excellent golf holiday to remember which included three golf holidays up for grabs, in three different provinces in Andalucia; Seville and Huelva provinces; Cadiz province and Malaga and Almeria provinces cleverly showcasing the depth and breath of this beautiful Southern part of mainland Spain for its vast array of golf courses and hotels.
The Andalusian TB have supported the Red Tee Tour from the very beginning, believing in the lady golfers, providing the ladies with such little but important things such as the paper bags we used as the goody bags to the fleeces, umbrellas and hats they gave for the winners. Maps of Andalucia with golf courses dotted about the region were the cause of many discussions over dinner - "have you been to...." "oh I'd love to go to....."
Winner of the Ladies singles was Rebecca Jones with a 34 stableford points - Rebecca wins a golf holiday for 2 people to Malaga and Almeria for 5 nights and will be given rental car and 6 green fees during her stay.
Winners of the pairs betterball were Linda Sherry and Jane Petts with 39 stableford points off 3/4 handicap and will win a golf holiday to Cadiz and Seville/Huelva again for 5 nights with 6 rounds of golf and rental car for two people.
Plus the winners will each get for themselves and their travelling partners a £100 contribution towards their travelling costs to get to Andalucia, courtesy of Red Tee Breaks - the lady golfer specialists. The winners goody bags contained a pair of Sundog sunglasses and a Tin Cup stencil of the Breast Cancer Care Ribbon, more of our amazing sponsors.
It would be remiss of us not to mention the host venues who took on these 130 ladies and gave them a great days golf at regional level - these were Macdonald Cardona, Close House, Staverton Park and Wokefield Park.
Prize sponsors for more golf holidays, whose generosity knew no bounds were Penha Longa in Portugal, Le Robinie in Italy, Dolce Campo Real in Portugal, El Prat in Spain and Case Velha do Palheiro in Madeira with Carton House in Ireland offering our Lady/Vice Captains further chances to win exclusively for them as a reward for their busy year in office.
We chose Breast Cancer Care as our charity for the tournament and through our donation of 10% of each entry fee received with the prize raffles and draws we ran throughout the golfing days we managed to raise a staggering £1,100 - well done and thank you to all who contributed.
So what next - the curtains have come down at The Oxfordshire for the Red Tee Tour 2015 - but it is just a winter break - we do hope to run more of the same into next year - such is the excellent feedback we have received.
Can you afford to miss this opportunity to play some great golf, with old and new friends and be in to win some great prizes?
