WHAT WE THINK

Loved both bags as both serve a different purpose, however, if budget is optimum, then I’d look at the Hydro flex bag as it can be carried or used on the trollies with its corresponding easi-lock system to stop any movement.  That said the Pro  Series is a great size, especially for winter when I tend to carry an inordinate amount of things - just in case!!   With the benefit of hindsight, I probably should have got a waterproof cart bag, but I did buy an over cover bag which seems to do the job.  The pro series does have a waterproof hood and a couple of waterproof pockets though.  The hydro-flex bag is great, it isn’t too heavy and really is a good all rounder.  As with most carry bags the pocket are fewer and generally not so big, and when carrying a full set, with only a 5-way divider it can be a bit of a pest  - so that is the compromise, I guess.

As an electric trolley the M1 is perfectly adequate for most golfers on most golf courses.  Its easy to set up and put back down again and is quite compact when its folded up.  It weighs 9.9kg, so I think quite heavy but one doesn’t want a golf trolley that is flimsy!

The M1 DHC is neat, but then I do play on a hill in the wind!  It took me a bit of getting used to as I clearly pushed my old electric trolley more than I thought, so kept walking into the DHC as I set off trying to out my head cover on the club pushing it with my belly! The DHC weighs 10.6 kg, so a bit heavier, but not massively so.

Both trollies come with a 28v lithium battery which can be left on the trolley when folding it up but is also quick to charge (after its initial charge)

The accessory kit is a bit of luxury for me, and now I’ve got one, I don’t know how I did without all these little extras that make the game of golf that bit easier

Recommended

Yes, think about what YOU want from a cart bag, think about what YOU want from an electric trolley and hopefully this review will help you decide?

WHAT WE THINK - 1. Max

Being sent 2 pair of golf shoes to trial from Skechers, I was able to do a comparison and be able to identify the best situations one shoe might work over the other.

I started playing golf again straight after lock down one. I did not wear the Max in walking around the house days and nights before wearing them, I took them straight out onto the golf course day 1.  Now that might not sound a big thing, but broken toes and big feet for a women aren’t all that conducive for comfort and in truth I do struggle with footwear.

So being able to wear the max golf shoes straight away was a massive positive

Fast forward 6 months and I feel in a good position to say how they have faired up during my golf season of 2020.  Being in lockdown but still being able to play golf, my travel has been somewhat curtailed so I have finally benefitted from my annual membership at my own golf club and played a lot more than previously, 3 and occasionally 4 times a week, so the trial has been a real one, lets say!

I also did the sprinkler test, as you will see on you tube, link below - I got soaked, my socks didn’t, even though these are only badged as shower proof, I have not got wet feet at all wearing them, but I haven’t worn them in heavy rain/or really wet grass.

I think they are perfect for travelling, especially if you are going somewhere warm, they are so light weight and easy to pack.

I did notice some wear and tear on them, whether this is my boney feet or the accepted norm, I don’t know, but the inside of the heels did wear away on both feet.  The other thing I notice was a permanent crease across the fold of the toes - I don’t think this is abnormal, so I wasn’t unhappy with this.  And even the wearing on the back of the heels wasn’t detrimental to the comfort.  The Max did not stretch over time and were true to the size for fitting

I would definitely buy Skechers Go Golf Max.

  • Side S logo
  • Lace up front
  • Padded collar and tongue

  • Translucent spikeless TPU traction outsole

WHAT WE THINK - 1. Elite 2

Moving into the Autumn, and the wetter colder conditions, I switched to Sketchers Go Golf Elite 2 - again I didn't have to wear them in, strap my feet up with plasters and blister plasters or do any preparation of my feet for the Elite 2, they fitted like a glove immediately and have remained the same, so far.

Heavier in weight, they could also be used for travelling, especially if you’re looking for a classic good looking shoe and the weather at your destination might be a bit unknown.  Spikeless winter shoes I haven’t slipped over during autumn and eagerly await my winter golf (when I say eagerly!)

Again the most comfortable shoe, true to its size and a good looking shoe.

Being waterproof, they too passed the sprinkler test, but importantly they have also stood up to the riggers of golf in a wet autumn mud and leaves.

There is the same wear and tear inside the heel, so maybe it is me!!

But their overall appearance is classic

A good all-round golf shoe that can do everything.

I would also buy Skechers Go Golf Elite 2

FEATURES
  • Variety of Putting Arc gadgets available to suit your budget and requirements
  • MS-3D is the original one and is longer, comes complete with a mirror to check the shoulder turn
  • Easy arc flow to follow the natural turn of the upper part of the body
  • Other models are more portable
  • Travel bag and mat available for practice
  • The arc glider to keep the putting face square
  • Combo packages available to buy for a better value purchase
WHAT WE THINK
I was intrigued to see what the putting arc was all about.  It has to be fair that my putting is generally Ok but sometimes completely goes off the boil, so having the putting arc to help me get back on track is useful.

Home practice for putting isn’t that easy, so taking a few moments a day I felt was the best way to achieve the results I wanted to be able to do the review, in the first instance.  I was very impressed with the line of the ball being consistent with each hit, regardless of how hard you hit it, despite my dodgy carpet fitting!

The mirror on the the MS-3D was really useful to see the shoulder turn, and added to the ease of use.  Therefore I would suggest this is better for the beginner or for someone who is really struggling with their shoulder turn

The alignment mat, T3 and T4 complete with travel bag, practice holes and velcro strip I felt was better value, and achieved the same results, adopting the same mathematical principal as the MS-3D but added great versatility for home and away use.

The prices do vary depending on what is best for you, but I felt that the MS-3D at around £70 was a bit expensive.  I did an internet search to find a variety of the Putting Arc brand devices available on Amazon from £39

The putting arc glider is a great idea, especially when you first start to use the gadget, however, it did feel a little cumbersome with its elastic band attachment.

The practice holes were another plus to the package received and helped me be a little more inventive for the demonstration on the video review - this part of the video has received some very positive comments.

I would recommend doing an internet search to find your best in-country distributor.

Following my review of #galvingreen clothing, Im delighted to share this latest video and press release with you.

With the following Press Release                       28 April 2020
GALVIN GREEN DRIVES ITS GREEN CREDENTIALS
-More sustainable, comfortable & stylish garments introduced-

Leading golf apparel brand Galvin Green has intensified its drive to supply the most sustainable products in the sector with the introduction of a new line of long-lasting INSULA™ warm layer garments made entirely from recycled plastic bottles.

The latest version of the stylish and comfortable DWIGHT sweater is made 100% from Recycled Polyester derived from as many as 17 litre-sized plastic bottles. The durable, stretchy half-zip garment delivers outstanding thermal insulation, as well as breathability and easy care across six colour choices (S-3XL). Other INSULA™ garments made from the same recycled material are the men’s DAMIE full-zip and DRAKE half-zip sweaters, plus the women’s DAVINA full-zip jacket and DIANE hoodie.

“Sustainability is part of the Galvin Green DNA and the new recycled polyester DWIGHT sweater reflects that fact perfectly,” said CEO Nicholai Stein. “There is no compromise on the comfort or performance levels and it spearheads the new sustainable garments that we plan to introduce on a larger scale in future.

“We always set out to introduce cutting edge technologies to maximise a golfer’s performance, while at the same time, looking to minimise environmental impact. Sustainability is also defined by long-lasting comfort and durability from well- designed garments that will last the test of time,” he added.

All seven styles of INSULA™ warm layer garments – 24 sweaters in total, including the DOLPH full-zip hoodie – are made from fabric approved to the globally recognised bluesign® standard for environmental textile production.

The same is true of all of its famous GORE-TEX 100% waterproof garments, which first encompassed bluesign®-approved fabric in 2013. Over the past five years, the environmentally friendly fabric has been integrated into the Galvin Green collections to the point where it now features in all six styles of GORE-TEX waterproof jackets and three trousers – making up 23 jacket options and five choices in trousers.

Currently, fabric used in more than 60% of the garments in the range are sourced from bluesign®-approved suppliers, including the popular selection of highly-breathable and comfortable VENTIL8™ trousers.

“Our goal is to have almost the entire range fully sustainable in the near future and we continue to search across the world for suppliers who can provide sustainable fabric that meets the demanding standards required by ourselves and bluesign®,” said Product Manager Sofia Ask Klason. “The task is being made easier as more fabric suppliers meet higher environmental standards and help us deliver the best garments possible for today’s golfers and future generations,” she added.

As part of the brand’s drive towards sustainability, Galvin Green introduced a limited Upcycle Edition range of high-performance garments last year made from fabric remaining from its main production runs. In addition, all of the INSULA™ fabric used in garment manufacture is produced at factories using solar roof panels to generate power for the machinery.

A short video illustrating the brand vision behind its continuous drive behind sustainability will be published soon.

WHAT I THINK

I saw Duca del Cosma shoes at the PGA Merchandise Show two years ago, or rather should I say I saw their staff and representatives walking into the show and what an impressive sight they made in their matching eye pleasing shoes of Italian flag colours.

After chatting to them and their PR company, Sports Impact, I was sent a pair of Pink Kubana shoes to trial.  It has to be said, I don’t have little dainty feet, Im 5’ 10” but was delighted when they sent a pair that fitted - and they weren’t dowdy mens colours!

Purposely choosing pink, I didn’t want a colour that simply faded into the background, I wanted one that would stand out, and the pink kubana do just that!!  Wearing a high colour also encourages people to ask, and on the back of this have instigated sales.

I even liked the two choices for laces, they are the flat type, as opposed to the tubular ones, and don’t slip when they are tied up, playing 18 holes of golf without having to re-tie your shoelaces is great.

The thing that I like most about the Duca del Cosma shoes is their versatility.  They can be used at home but when I travel I often take them as they can be played in any weather condition, they don’t make your feet hot in warm weather and they don’t leak and make your feet wet in colder drier conditions, yet they always look clean and fresh.  For me a perfect all round golf shoe with style to be worn on or off the golf course

Yes, I love the colour choices too

WHAT WE THINK
  1. Wool jumpers
I was lucky to be sent a variety of jumpers to trial, but the reality is, I found it so hard to chose a few as they all looked so nice in the catalogue.  The design is ‘preppy’ - it is also clean looking and looked smart in all the pictures I’d seen prior to ordering.
When the package arrived with a lovely note from Theresa and Justine - the owners of Birdie London, I was so pleased with the feel of the jumpers.  All are 100% fine merino wool and so soft to the touch - always something I'm aware of as wool can be scratchy - I have worn the jumpers on various occasions, on and off the golf course, for travelling and for pretty much everything.  I have washed them multiple times and despite hubby putting one on the wrong wash, it didn’t go horribly out of shape - not that I’d endorse not washing as per the instructions!

The contrasting colour band is a trade mark of Birdie London, it does make it distinctive and easy to wear with multiple outfits.  I loved that the stitched wording ‘Birdie’ is not in your face but subtly matched to the background colour material - no need to shout about this quality, it shouts for itself.

I can honestly say, everyone who has asked me about the jumpers absolute love them.

2. Cotton polo shirt
To be honest, I wasn’t sure about the polo shirt when I saw it, as it didn’t look like anything special.  It actually took me a while to find the right occasion to wear it, but once I'd worn it that first time, I loved it’s soft feel against my skin.  It is a slightly heavier material and therefore not so great in the height of summer but perfect for the shoulder seasons or cooler summer days.  Again with the distinctive contrasting band across the chest, it is flattering in its design.

3. Snood/Headband
It has to be said I have a lot of hair, and having a head band to keep it off my face is a great idea, especially for putting!  But the best thing it is really a snood, so in effect two uses for the one item.
The snood sits beautifully on the neck giving enough space without cold air penetrating in.
I loved the fact that mine matched one of my jumpers, and when I wear one, I usually wear the other as a complete outfit.

Birdie London say their clothing is ‘cocktail sportswear’ a strange combination of occasions but actually I can see how that works.  If you want to be the best and warmest dressed on the course this winter, check out : https://birdie.london

I’m sure you won’t be disappointed, I’m not, even one year later of using these jumpers - testimony to their lasting quality and freshness.
Recommended - Yes or No?A resounding Yes.  I love my Birdie London knitwear, and with the company evolving and producing new and exciting colours and designs each season, it’s one to watch out for in the future

GALVIN GREEN
But what else does Galvin Green have in their armoury?
And what do you think to their styles and fit?
Galvin Green isn't just about the waterproofs as Sarah shows on this extensive review of golf clothing just for women who enjoy to travel, play at home and look great

Features by Item
  1. Skintight thermal base layer -Thermal technology, breathable, moisture transportation properties

  1. Maureen shirt - Moves moisture away with their Ventil8 plus technology UV 20SPF protection
  1. Neely Shorts - Lightweight technical fabric, moisture wicking with UV up to 20 spf

  1. Maggie Shirt - Breathable Ventil8 lightweight fabric
  1. Nina Skort - Ventil8 technical fabric with style details

  1. Dominique Jacket - Insula fabric which is very breathable, soft and lightweight yet has a thermal lining
  1. Skintight thermal base layer - Warm but not too thick, collarless for extra fashion options

  1. Maureen shirt -Lightweight breathable material, easy to wash even when my chosen colour was white with navy blue trim there was no colour run it is also easy and light to wear
  2. Neely Shorts - Smart navy shorts with white detailing down the outside of the legs adding extra class to the items.  They stretched and moved as the golfer needs
  3. Maggie Shirt - This navy blue shirt is so lightweight you barley notice you are wearing it
  4. Nina Skort - On opening this skort I was so excited to get a white albeit totally impracticable colour, thinking the white would soon dis-colour in the wash or attract every particle of dirt as soon as I put it on - not the case, it is still fresh to this day, although does occasionally need ironing, this means it isn’t easy to travel with.  A quick fix would be to make it a pattern rather than a solid block colour?
  5. Dominique Jacket - A pocketless insula jacket in pink and white tones - what else can any red-head want - I love it!

This is what Sarah thinks to Galvin Green golf clothes for women:

Neely Shorts and Maureen Shirt - plenty of space to move!
  1. Skintight thermal base layer -The Emily crew neck thermal underlay was a surprise.  Yes I have used under garments before, but they have tended to be quite thick material and whilst this does pull the tummy in, one has to be able to breathe too!  The Emily crew neck is comfortable and doesn’t need any extra care to keep it looking and feeling warm - one for the serious golfer!
  2. Maureen shirt - It isn’t often you can get a white shirt and it reman good and fresh for a number of washes.  The Maureen shirt I had was white with a navy blue trim and is still just as fresh with no colour run even now, as it was when I got it months ago, and it has been worn many times!
  3. Neely Shorts - I must say I don't usually wear shorts for golf, but having owned and worn the Neely shorts from Galvin Green, I would definitely get another pair.  They were so comfortable, even on 'fat days' they didn't ride up and remained stylish throughout the day.
  4. Maggie Shirt - love wearing this shirt, I had mine in nave blue with  a knit white collar line trim, it looks classy and feels great to wear, even on hot days the dark colour didn’t make me feel any warmer due to its wicking technology. A must for the wardrobe and is my go-to shirt of choice.
  5. Nina Skort  - A block colour short with dart detailing at the bottom of each side seam, this did make it look like it was flying a bit but the style and fit were fantastic, although a bit big which is great on really hot days.  That said, I did think this style might suit smaller sizes better with its block colour choices?
  6. Dominique Jacket - Its pink!  OK I didn’t ever think I'd wear pink, but this jacket is so warm and comfortable, yet not bulky the colour is now secondary and as Ive worn it, I’ve come to like it even more as it is lovely, cosy and warm and of course pink!  There was some colour run to the white.
Maggie Shirt and Nina Skort

Galvin Green is known for the best waterproof clothing in the world, but what do you think?

  1. Pac lite WaterproofsI was trialling Alexandra trousers, Angel Jacket and Axiom hat, all in matching navy blue.  Gore-tex has been round for many years with Galvin Green being the market leaders.  The material is coated with a waterproof membrane to stop water seeping through, even at the seams.  Their ability to pack small makes them ideal for travelling yet they don’t come out crumpled and messy looking, in fact they are smart enough to pop over a top in the evening if it starts to drizzle or a little wind protection is needed.  The first time the waterproofs came out was whilst travelling, they were being used to pack the clubs and were, to be honest worked around the clubs int the travel bag.  No sooner had I pulled them out of the bag than they were good enough to be worn.  I was keen to wear my Galvins and have been ever since.  One year later, I know that the clothing is still waterproof and still love wearing them, feeling dry and smart. They are my go to waterproofs.  The accompanying hat is a great idea and works especially well for people with long hair with the hole at the back of the cap.  The finishing item for the outerwear was the Divine snood, in a few shades lighter than the Pac lites, the snood is a must have item for golfers.  No dangling of the scarf whilst you're swinging your club, instead a neat, warm and cosy fitting snood to keep your neck warm and to stop those annoying dribbles down the back of the neck from the rain as you bend over to take your shot!

WHAT WE THINKIt is rare that I can put on a pair of golf shoes and they feel comfortable straight away.  Couple this with my feet being slightly bigger than most women it is always difficult to find a shoe that fits well.  Skechers have overcome this larger size prejudice and provide a good array of shoes and sizes to chose from for the female golfer.

I was sent the Go Golf Birdie shoes in Blue with a pink trim, sufficiently girlie enough yet practical in the colour choice.  The Go Golf Birdie shoes are waterproof, so they were not worn much over the dry periods of the summer months, instead favouring them for the wetter days.  They are entirely waterproof and have seen me through a years worth of golf, albeit sporadic due to seasonal usage.

I posted on Instagram that the shoes were due for a review and had mixed comments back, most were positive on the looks. I have also had ladies ask me about them when I have been wearing them, the response has always been positive.  One comment on Insta was that they spikes did not last, but to be honest I have not had this issue, maybe it is because they are not used constantly, only in wet or wet underfoot weather conditions?
Whilst negative comments were minimal another one was that they looked plastic. This 'newness' wore off after a period of time though.

Having been wearing the shoes for just over a year, with them being my go-to shoe for wet golf, I was disappointed to see that they had split across the top of the toe, where the toes bend as one walks naturally.

I do not review golf products immediately, as a regular lady golfer, I review them after a period of usage and this is the reason why.  Is it reasonable to expect more than just over a years usage out of a shoe that averages out to be maximum usage of once per week?

Naturally I was disappointed to see this happen, but hope that this is a one off incident as Skechers deserve to be market leaders in women’s golf shoes fo the price, the variety of styles and look and of course the size ranges.

FootnoteAfter writing this report, Skechers have advised that the shoes would have been replaced without question and that this was the first time this issue has been raised.
A new pair of Skechers shoes were offered as a replacement.
RecommendedUp until they split, Yes, after they split, I will await the response to this concern raised, it was positive, so Yes
For their immediate comfort, definitely Yes

WHAT WE THINKGiven the time to review the balls, I handed then out to two ladies of a mid 20 handicap and we proceeded to play 9 holes together, each of us having a different colour.
The colour range was positively remarked upon but concerns were raised by the light blue as a ball to see in the sky?  The pink and yellow were easiest colours to see on a cold March morning
First thoughts was it looked rubbery but played fine, good with the short game but from a golfer who is a good short game player, it was noted that they didn’t play any differently to affect her strength in the game.
A good putting ball. I lent my playing partners my putter to see if my experience of the ball being soft off the face was peculiar to my putter, it was felt that the softness of the ball worked in its favour, this was noticed for putting particularly.
Being mid 20 handicappers, the other ladies felt the balls responded properly for their playing ability.
The balls were quite difficult to clean in their matt colour, however, it appeared that they didn’t cut or scuff as easily.

WHAT WE THINKThe Meridian Golf Travel bag, part of the Club Glider range, has always raised eyebrows when wheeling with ease through airpots and at hotels, it does baffle the odd porter who simply can’t understand that the second set of wheels make it easier to navigate and insists on dragging it along as if it were a regular golf travel bag - to my concern that it might damage the golf clubs or bag itself as it isn’t being used as designed, when being dragged along on the two static wheels but it hasn’t damaged to date either, so I can only assume that the reinforced straps and padding make it a more durable to ‘mis-use’
A section of colours helps with the decision making - it isn’t a one size fits all when it come to colour choices.

But when a product is so good, fit for purpose, easy to use and is a help not a hindrance there seems little else to say about it, except keep up the great work, and I will keep promoting through Brand Fusion, here in the UK.

Perfect for all golf travellers worldwide.

2018 review
Sun Mountain golf bags just get better and better.

I first reviewed a Sun Mountain bag in 2013, now 5 years later I’m back for more.  (2013 below for interest)
With subtle yet functional changes the golf bag is not only available in trendy colours but has functionality which make it a good all year round golf bag to own.  I use my lite weight cary bag mainly for travelling, but it  would work equally well if it was the only golf bag you owned. It has been used in blistering sunshine, in cold damp weather and in full blown rain storms where the 19th hole just beckons!  During this past year, the new bag has been bashed around the luggage belt, been thrown in and out of coaches, taxi’s and cars, and dropped more times by careless baggage handlers than I care to mention, naturally I use a travel bag, but the contents do get shaken up at times!
My first mistake with my original bag which I used for traveling was to get a  white one - big mistake, it got filthy going about its every day life, my new sensible head has gone for a colour this time and I love the colour I have chosen, aqua blue, not only for its colour but the versatility and durability of that colour too, even on a grey drizzly day the bag looks sharp and ready for action - maybe more than it’s owner some days!!

Another noticeable thing about the newer release of the bag are the carry straps, which seem more padded, but have a waffle effect to them which seems to stop them twisting as you throw your bag onto you shoulder.  Whilst I do like the extra padding when carrying the bag, I am not so sure about the waffle effect which is a bit scratchy when wearing sleeveless golf shirts as you drag it up your arm before it comes to rest on the shoulders, where it does sit comfortably once on.

The pockets are of a good size and whilst bulging during that iffy season of waterproofs on waterproofs off, they do take everything a girl should need for golfing.  The pop out legs are sturdy and so long as they are protected by being hooked back when using the bag on a cart, should last a long time with the durable mechanism in place.
A little velvet lined pocket for the bits and bobs is a nice touch but a bit of a nuisance when your hands are wet and the velvet sticks to them as you’re in and out of the pocket.  The ball pocket is plenty big enough for even the most wayward of players collection of balls, but I do think that there should have a 2-way zip as the balls could fall out when carrying the bag if left unopened.  The three way divider for the clubs are of a good size to get the full set of clubs in easily however during wet games I have been known to inadvertently group all my clubs together in one of the 3 available dividers for ease of access creating a pick up sticks moment as I pull out more than one club in a hurry to get out of the rain - user error!

With the front ball pocket being blank enables embroidery of your company name, always a good branding exercise and one I am glad Sun Mountain have thought about in advance to offer their customers more reasons to buy their products.

Important to note, the waterproof feature only works in conjunction with the hood - might be a silly statement to make, but I have seen others playing golf in the rain without the hood then complaining that their clubs are wet!

Having a carry bag is one of the most useful pieces of flexible equipment a golfer could own as it lends itself to playing locally as well travelling, without compromise.  The Sun Mountain carry bag is no exception to this, combining style and practicality

In short I love the Sun Mountain H2NO Ultra Lite carry bag and wouldn’t hesitate recommending it to golfers.

PGA Merchandise Show - January 2018

Flaunting in Florida was published in The Golf Business

I had forgotten about the buzz at the PGA Merchandise Show, which I hadn’t been to for a few years, but this year I wanted to go back and take a look amid rumours it wasn’t as good, it had got smaller, not as many people were going and all the other little things I had heard over the previous few years.  So off I toddle in January representing The Golf Business for the first time - my remit, to check out the weird and wonderful products on offer this year.
And I did find them, the weird, the wonderful and the downright great ideas which may or may not succeed in this tough marketplace of evolving products and the ‘next best thing'.
Here is a brief synopsis of a few of these, maybe not so quirky products but all note worthy

Popticals - golf sunglasses - not new, I’ve reviewed golf sunglasses before, so what makes popticals different?  Using optic industry leaders Carl Zeiss NYDEF nylon lenses, which help reduce weight by up to 18%  as well as colour saturation which in turn increases the ability to read undulations on the course, as well as the light to dark shadows cast across the fairway on a summers day.  They are in themselves good all round sports sunglasses, however what makes the double unique is their ability to pack and travel anywhere in a small fold-up self contained unit. which makes them great for the traveling golfer.  A hardy, probably near indestructible hard shell carry case is half the size of normal sunglasses cases due to the unique nature of the FL2 micro-rail system which quickly and easily enables the sunglasses to fold in half.  And to top it all - they look pretty trendy too with a variety of frames to choose from.  No more loosing your sunglasses at the bottom of the golf bag, only to finally find them having slipped out their case, covered in last years banana and scratched to pieces, they have an tag to attach to the golf bag when not in use.

J Lindeberg - now it has to be said that if my J Lindeberg himself is behind the counter, at the PGA Show, the means something -his passion for this well known clothing brand has not waned.   The range of products not only get a big thumbs up from me, but a certain admiration to the chap himself.  The J Lindeberg clothing range is not new, it has in some respects been market leaders for the mens clothing but their inclusion of a varied range of ladies golf clothing has also caught my eye.  Why?  because their same attention to detail and style has been applied to the lady golfers apparel as it has to the mens.  Sharp clean lines of quality material with no unnecessary fussy non-functional bits added to makes the clothing look frilly or less trim, it is all about the cut of the cloth.  J Lindeberg also produce everyday ladies clothing and the thought processes behind the design of the golf clothing is the flexibility of multi-use clothing, you don’t need to get changed after golf to go and do the shopping, J Lindeberg clothes are simply chic and comfortable enough to be worn anywhere, style and comfort are paramount.
Appreciating that the ladies apparel is a different market, they have done their research and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it out-sell other leading brands in the future.

Weatherman Umbrella - the humble golf umbrella - how can that be improved upon, we have storm umbrellas, ones for sun and one for high winds, we have different shapes and sizes and don’t even think about the colours options.  The weatherman umbrella took me a little while to get my head around - I couldn’t figure out why I would need bluetooth connectivity on a golf course and why on the umbrella itself? It has an integrated app to give you the weather forecast and syncs with your existing bluetooth technology - there is even a little pocket to put your phone in whilst playing golf.  Now I am not advocating to get your phone out, talk as loudly as possible and dial into conference calls whilst playing golf, but for emergency use, it might be useful?
Tested in wind tunnels, water and sun proof this umbrella is all singing all dancing golf umbrella, and most likely just whats needed in the Great British weather - but I did giggle when I was told the app forewarned me of impending showers - not even our whether men on the television can get that right!

A variety of the good, the bad and the downright ugly caught my eye at the PGA Merchandise Show this year, and I am forever curious to see which produces make it or not.

Kankura Golf Shoes, Portugal

Reviewed 2016

A relatively new golf shoe manufacturer, I was asked to review the Kankura Golf Shoes for the lady golfer marketplace.  After all girls simply cannot have enough shoes, so why should golf shoes be any different?

Made of soft leather the shoes come in a variety of colours with either contrasting or colour matching the shoe was the trademark ‘K’ design on the side of the shoes.  Ideal for summer play or for the golf holiday, the sole is made of small diamonds for grip.

Soft and pliable yet sturdy soles meet soft pliable leather for added comfort.

Coming in its own little tote carry bag complete with a shoe horn, pick up the ensemble and you're set to go.

One of the best things about these shoes is the variety of colours they come in - whether you are the kind of girl (or boy) who matches their outfits - shoes, golf bags, clothing, hats (we all know the type, and enviably smart they look too) then these Kankura shoes are just the ticket.  Ladies shoes tend to come in more colourful options than the mens but the mens do look smart.  My business partner was sent the brown ones
and I liked those as much as I liked my blue and white ones, in fact the mens are so versatile they can be worn as a regular shoe - ideal when just nipping up to the club for a few holes and you don't want the bother of changing when you arrive or for in the clubhouse afterwards.  The ladies shoes on the reverse lend themselves to be worn as you would a comfy pair of trainers, so not party dress but certainly a versatile shoe.  We loved these shoes and being able to pop down from your hotel room ready to play is a massive advantage on your next golf holiday.

Dawg gone it - Sundog have done it again!

Review date June 2015

Being a relatively recent convert to the wearing of sunglasses for golf, I was delighted to be able to give the new technology the True Blue Lens offers to sunglasses, and how it differed to ‘regular’ sunglasses.

Dash
The design called Dash are a sleek all black frame and lens, a stylish yet timeless looking sunglasses to be worn with pretty much anything.  Making you not only looks like a professional golfer but giving you the protection from the bright sunshine.  Do all sunglasses offer this level of ‘brightness filtration’?  Well no, they don’t and when you’re out on the golf course there is often no cover from the bright sunshine and you need to know that the sun is being ‘managed’ to suit you and your game.

A simple timeless design that enables you to forget about the glare and simply just get on with your game

Pace
I’ve got to be honest; I took one look at these and thought, I’m really not sure.  These are hard core sunglasses, designed for hard-core sports men and women – I’m not sure hitting a little white ball around a field, albeit a manicured field puts me as a hard core sports person.  However, the design features I didn’t like the look of are actually the best thing about the PACE glasses and one which I’m glad to write about.  The True Blue lens is, as mentioned, simply stunning at filtering out the harsh light but the design of these sunglasses are absolutely perfect for sports such as cycling.  Why, being frameless sunglasses it is ideal for all sports.  Cycling in the spring morning, the sun high enough in the sky to make a difference, but the early morning temperature being crisp, eyes watering from the cool morning breeze the frameless glasses don’t hinder the dripping eyes - magic

Some sunglasses still need the odd squint, the True Blue lens ones don’t, they do actually filter out the glare.

The tinted glass rally does not put you off your stroke, , it completely takes out the glare and enables you to focus on what you’re there to do –play golf un-hindered.  I am now a complete convert to wearing these Sundog sunglasses whilst playing golf, having to check myself when reaching for them even on a dull grey day on the golf course!

Paula Creamer Sundog Sunglasses - Captiva

What we say - Review date December 2014

I wouldn’t normally wear sunglasses whilst playing golf, instead opting for a sun visor or hat, but recently I’ve experienced some headaches so gave the Captiva ones a go – wow amazing.

Smoke/BlackFadeBrown/Gold/DemiI cannot believe that the tinted glass does not put you off, especially with putting but it doesn’t, it completely takes out the glare and enables you to focus on what you’re there to do –play golf un-hindered.

I thought that they might slip down the nose the more you played in the heat, but they didn’t, they stayed in place for the whole round due to the nose pad.  What is more, for me to pack them into my golf bag in a packet that is on the outside, they haven’t been damaged (so far!)

I am now a complete convert to wearing these Sundog sunglasses whilst playing golf.

John O'Hern  Sweetspot - Confessions of a Golfaholic

John contacted me to see if I wanted to read his book – Sweetspot confessions of a golfaholic and duly sent it to me.

What we say: Review date November 2014

Being an intermittent reader, it took me a few weeks to start reading it, but once I did, I couldn’t put it down.  I’m a night reader and found myself laughing out loud at parts and relaying to my husband with a bemused look, giggling like a school child who can draw perfect comparisons to characters for parts of this book.  I looked forward to going to bed so I could start to read the next instalment.

Whilst about golf, the references to the sport are not over bearing or too technical, a non-golfer or a golf widow would be able to pick it up and understand the story, again drawing similarities their own lives with humour.

A well written light-hearted book for anyone who plays golf and for anyone who doesn’t – for the fun people in life who can not only laugh out loud but be able to laugh at themselves being in the situations clearly described in this great book.

Available from Amazon priced $12.88 http://amzn.to/18rXfvD

Still not convinced?  Take a look at these snap shots from the play taken from the book

2013 Club Glider Journey Orange/Plaid
In Orange and Plaid

Sun Mountain Club Glider
What we say: Review Date February 2014
When I first saw the club glider I was impressed.  However, it isn’t until one starts to use it that one really appreciates the functionality of this golf travel bag.

Packing it was easy; the moulded base enables the golf bag to slide into the cavity with ease, allowing plenty of space for a standard size bag.  With internal pockets for the extra golf equipment we golfers like to carry around were plentiful and big enough to accommodate shoes plus some.  Having internal straps enabled the clubs to sit in the tray and retain their position whilst travelling and being thrown around by less than careful baggage handlers. Once the bag was fully packed the heavy duty zips did hold their own and were easy to manipulate into position. The spring out legs are the icing on the cake, they were easily extended and retracted and made the club glider a doddle to manoeuvre.  All you need is one finger – in fact it glides so easily it got away from me in the stone floor hotel lobby whilst trying to manage the other more cumbersome suitcase bags. Unloading the club glider was just as easy, release the internal straps and pull out the golf bag – that easy.  The top part of the club glider which covers the club heads is so well padded it keeps the clubs from bashing against each other in transit.
Not only does the Club Glider offer all the above in spades, but when you’ve finished with it, simply fold the top into the tray, retract the legs and pack it away to store until the next time you travel – it takes up so little storage space when not in use.
What a great product, I attracted many looks and comments and was able to tell people about the Club Glider with first-hand knowledge. RRP £129.99

Voice Caddie VC200EN

What we say: Review Date December 2013
There are many GPS systems on the market for golf, so many in fact that the simple ones often stand out as the best.  Voice Caddie provides basic information- for the version I tested was to the middle of the green only.
Having that information to hand has enabled my club selection to be much better than previously.  Knowing what distance you can hit a particular club inevitably reduce the number of shots taken to reach the green.
I’ve always steered away from GPS systems for golf play – relying instead on the 100/150/200 yard markers, but now I’ve had the use of the Voice Caddie; I really can’t see how I managed without one.  In fact I feel a bit lost without one and become the proverbial pest asking anyone what the distance is to the green.
The clip-on feature means you don’t have to mess about with taking gloves off, shading the screen from bright sunlight or clearing it from the rain – you simply press a button and you’re given a distance to the centre of the green.
If like me, you wear it on your cap/hat it also comes with a handy ball marker on the underside therefore reducing the amount of ‘essential’ things on the cap and you look less like the pearly queen.
I understand later versions offer more detailed information that the version tested.
Whichever GPS system you choose, don’t exclude the Voice Caddie from your short list.
RRP £99

H2N0 White/Red
Having a carry bag is one of the most useful pieces of flexible equipment a golfer could own as it lends itself to playing locally as well travelling, without compromise.  The Sun Mountain carry bag is no exception to this, plus some.   The colour range for the Staff H2NO bags has taken a new slant, with colour tones to co-ordinate you best outfits.  A fully waterproof carry bag with taped zips and padded shoulders for extra comfort.  It is a little heavier than a pencil bag, but being a full carry bag enables plenty of pockets to carry those essential extras in too.  A great bag to own.

Waterproofs.  Available in a variety of styles for both men and lady golfers and incorporating GORE-TEX technology a must have waterproof

What we say: Review date 2013
The Alva Trousers
Having the fit of a normal pair of golf trouser with the added elasticated waist meant the Alva trousers looked smart when worn.  They were trialled with trousers underneath, as well as with nothing and with leggings.  The Alva trousers were comfortable and warm, with whatever was worn underneath, but as the properties of the trousers were geared up for wet, cold and/or windy days by far the most comfortable was with leggings as they didn’t hinder the cut of the trousers and enabled complete movement.  Personally, I would prefer the trousers to be slightly longer in leg length - but I am tall.
The Aim Jacket
Coming in a variety of colours the Aim jacket is a good choice to compliment any outer wear outfit.  It looks smart and is comfortable to wear.  Pockets were in a position to enable full use, whether carrying the bag or using a trolley, they were easily accessible.
The Aura Hat
A great design enabling the back of the neck to keep dry as well and the good sized rim of the hat to keep the face as dry as possible.  The chin strap is a little annoying as it does dig in if the wind is blowing.  Galvin Green does another hat without the shin strap (Ant). Also, if having long hair tied up the hat doesn’t fit properly on the head –maybe in this case the Abel cap would be more suitable as the hole in the back allows for long hair.   It is nice to see there are options to suit all needs. We hope to get the Abel Cap shortly so watch this space for an update – Im sure we won’t be disappointed.
General
The overall appearance of the outfit was very smart and professional looking with a variety of colour options.  Couple this with the ability of crossing one design with another to choose what they want gives the customer a good choice for a complete outfit.
Whilst playing at Conwy on a particularly wet Sunday morning with a group of 12 golfers, it was noticed that I was the only one completely dry after the game (with the exception of feet – thanks Footjoy LoPros!)  That speaks volumes as it is one thing for the wearer to keep dry, but another for other golfers to notice and talk about it-well done, keep up the good work.

Sun Mountain H2No Speed Cart
What we say: Review date April 2013
Positives
·     Solid construction
·     Easy to fit and remove the golf bag
Speed Cart V1 Sport Black·     Rolls well and is easy to push
· Lots of handy storage boxes and pockets around the handle
·     Very stable
·     The brake ensures the trolley stays where you leave it
·      Adjustable handle high
·      Umbrella holder

Negatives
·     It’s a little on the heavy side, when lifting it in & out of the car
·     Fold down size isn’t very compact
·     The narrow wheels aren’t accepted on some courses following heavy rain
·      The whole package trolley and bag can be heavy to push up hills

I have used the trolley over the last 3 months and find it a well-made, easy to use trolley, it rolls well with the minimum of effort, about the best you can do without a battery. My bag fits simply on to the holders, which once adjusted to your bag size don’t need to be changed again, bag straps are not required and the bag does not slip round like some other trolleys. The construction of the trolley is solid and it should last for years, however the problem is this does make the trolley a little on the heavy side when lifting it in or out of the car, but once it’s set-up ready to use it feels very light.

Grip-Par Golf Gloves
What we say: Review date March 2013
Meeting Stuart, the inventor, one can’t do anything except be drawn in by his infectious enthusiasm about the product he developed as a result of a hand injury he incurred which left him unable to go about his everyday life as a builder.
Grip Aid was founded, with other uses quickly following, one such being Grip-Par; the golf glove.  Simplicity by design it’s amazing that such a product can actually not only encourage you to grip the golf club correctly, especially useful for beginners and those with a weak grip but can extend the golfing life for those of us, through injury or through RA, RSI or a hand injury with its unique strapping technology.
Using the golf glove you can still inter-lock the fingers to grip the club, with the strapping coming from the inside of the palm to lock the glove over the back of the knuckles.  For sufferers with ‘curled’ fingers, don’t despair Grip-Par have thought about that too by offering a mitten style Grip-Par glove where a baseball grip would be used.
Designed by someone who has been in the same boat as many who suffer from hand injuries or debilitating conditions affecting the hands – what price do you put on being able to continue to play golf into twilight years?
Also available as a general sports glove for tennis, squash etc, as a household glove-sold by the pair- great for gardening, as a light weight tubi-grip style for light household work eg holding the saucepan and dusting  and as heavy duty DIY glove – all giving you a better quality of life

Raa Putting Without Fear New to the golf scene Raa putters represent an exciting technological breakthrough in putter design. Golfers can now benefit from a combination of innovative features which guarantees correct set-up and optimum ball-to-putter contact, leading to improved distance control and the elimination of side spin; something that can often ruin a golfer's game.
Review Date 2012/2013 What we say: Being a user of the Odyssey two ball putter previously, the transition to the Raa putter was made with ease.  Whilst the Raa putter comes in a blade and mallet, the mallet was the one chosen to review.
To review a product one needs to be able to assess it in all conditions, wet, hot and cold – this has had a fair assessment and the build quality has stood up to this test with ease.
The first thing I noticed when using the putter was how the ball left the putter head – like a hot knife through butter.  It seemed to hit the ball with such ease, no ricochet or clunking the ball but a nice smooth gentle yet firm touch which held its line though the stroke.  This hasn't faded with time.
The dotted indicators on the top of the putter assist the line of the putt from back swing to contact to follow through.
The base of the putter encourages the head to rest on the ground squarely at address – hold that line and you’ll be rewarded.
The weight of the head suits my style of golf, however, some people did struggle with keeping the line on back swing and therefore on follow through.
An interesting observation whilst not conclusive, give the Raa mallet putter to a lady and she’ll rest it on the ground squarely – letting the putter do the work and generally with good results.  Give that same putter to a man and they would tend to life the toe of the putter up and hit the ball to one side.  Pointing out ‘gender’ difference upon address men often improved their results.  As said not a scientific test, just an observation watching men and ladies use the putter.  Revised 2013 - Im pleased to advise the with continued use of the RAA putter yields consistent results.  The putter handle has been replaced with a G-Rip one which has made a big difference to the way it reacts in wet weather - with the reaction being for the better. In my opinion RAA and G-Rip would make an excellent partnership.  Most wear and tear is on the putter head cover.

Linden Replacement Batteries Six reasons why you should up-grade to Lithium with Linden Golf: Longer Battery Life, More Usable Power Available, Built-in Battery Management, 75% Lighter, Shorter Charge Time, and finally they Fit Virtually any Electric Trolley.
The Linden Lithium battery kit comprises a Lithium battery and a dedicated, state-of-the art, Lithium battery charger. We also supply a standard fitting for Powakaddy® electric trolleys and an adaptor for other popular trolleys such as Motocaddy®, Hillbilly® and Powerbug which use a standard Torberry connector
What we sayReview date January 2013
The technical spec. and special features tells the story, however usage is the happy ending to a good story.  I have been using the Linden lithium battery for about 6 months on a regular basis.  It has been used with a Powakaddy trolley without any problems with adaptation.  It has also been used whilst travelling and it is here that it really comes into its own.  When you have a suitcase and golf equipment to carry to the hotel room each night and back again the next morning the battery is often the straw that breaks the camel’s back, however the Linden lithium battery is simply popped into the handbag and easily transported, couple this with the time to charge the battery means you can put it on charge at the end of the day, have dinner and by the time you go to bed, the battery is charged and you can switch off the charging devise so you haven’t got to listen to the fan going or have the charging light keeping you awake at night in the hotel room.  Just brilliant.
Having a non-trolley branded lithium battery means it can be shared with your spouse who may want to use it for a different electric trolley, the beauty of flexibility of the adaptation kit which comes with the battery.
Any serious golfer will see and reap the benefits of owning a Linden lithium battery and won’t want to go back to using a normal lead acid one
Update January 2014 - Battery still going strong and still last 18 holes with ease.

Fit39 Golf gloves One of the best gloves around!
Now available in the UK! Fit39 EX, Fit39 Heart and Fit39 Safari Golf Gloves; the very best of the Japanese and the Far Eastern Golf Scene.
What we say: Review Date: Summer 2012:  These gloves not only look funky but fit - well, like a glove!  They stretch and bend with the movement of the hand.  Coming in a variety of colours they can be teamed with many outfits - or you could buy one eye catching one to contrast.  The Fit39 gloves don't smell - strange thing to say, but they can be left in the golf bag and pulled out as fresh as the day you bought them.  They also wash well and retain their shape and colour.  The sizes are quite big, so be mindful of ordering the correct size.
